Mars is the 7th largest planet its Diameter is 6,794km. Mars is also the 4th planet closest to the sun but its still a huge distance inbetween with it being 227,940,000km. Mars was found a long time ago back in prehistoric time. The first space craft to land on mars was in 1965. Mars contains rock and iron oxides. the top layer of mars is made up of Volcanos,Valleys,Ice caps and dried up rivers. Mars is now red from the iron inside the rocks rusting. But there is sayings that mars is not really red that red only goes into the dirt for 2 millimetres and at its deepest 2 metres.
